  • Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in the old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are,
One equal-temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Though much is taken, much abides.

That which we are, we are.

Two of the more powerful thoughts I have stumbled across in my windless philosophical wanderings over here...

  • Jenna I love this picture of you!

On a side note you would think that after all his years of bickering and fighting over petty, petty things man would have learned that the "Us" vs. "Them" mentality doesn't work. I guess on a positive side things like this remind me that there is much work to be done and that Love is desperately needed throughout the world, suburbs included...

  • Often times we may feel that what we do is just a drop in the ocean, but the ocean would be one drop smaller if we didn't do it.

Mother Teresa

I am leaning pretty hard on this right now, if I am going to be honest. I don't really know what it is I am suppose to be doing here and it seems like everything I talk about and every idea I have is returned by a well intentioned pat on the head as if I were a cute five year old kid that just said something witty beyond my years. I mean, I get it. I understand I am young and have the world in front of me and am not what most would call experienced, but what the hell am I suppose to do? I just wanted to be taken seriously. I know that comes with time and that you have to win over the trust of the people you are with but that is so much more difficult when you talk and sound like a 6th grader. I suppose this week was just difficult. My Americanism is kicking in and I am getting pretty restless sitting around doing nothing all the time. The majority of that is my fault, I will admit, and I am certain that I could be far more productive and proactive with my time (like going to talk to the director at the school as opposed to writing on this silly thing I call my website). I guess you can only trust that you are where you are because that is where you are suppose to be and that in the end you do everything you can and hope it is enough.

It is freezing outside and my coat is nowhere near warm enough today but I am going to go for a walk because that is how bad I need to get out of this chair right now...

  • For such a manly picture it is only appropriate to follow with a manly thought:

The fog lifting before night, I was afforded a look at the sun just as it was touching the sea. I watched it go down and out of sight. Then I turned my face eastward, and there, apparently at the very end of the bowsprit, was the smiling full moon rising out of the sea. Neptune himself coming over the bows could not have startled me more. 'Good evening, sire,' I cried; 'I'm glad to see you.' Many a long talk since then I have had with the man in the moon; he had my confidence on the voyage.

  • This guy was giving the "gig'em" for sure. He pointed to the raw meat that was being speared in preparation to be thrown on the fire and then held up his beer and gave the thumbs up.

I understood exactly what he was saying!
